Meet the Fort Smith Four

 

A collective group of aspiring journalists covering local news at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and the greater Fort Smith area.

Patricia Hofferber

 

Patricia is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and a non-traditional student at UAFS. She will graduate in Spring 2016 with a B. A. in Media Communication. Originally from the Western Slope of Colorado, she has lived in Fort Smith since 2011. She lives with her son, William, and three cats. Besides becoming a crazy old cat woman, she aspires to write for the Times Record and other journals that accept freelance work. Her hobbies includereading, fiction writing, and researching--especially family research.

Lauren Schluterman

 

Lauren is a Senior at UAFS graduating December 2015.She is majoring in Organizational Leadership (and everything on campus) with a minor in Media Communication. She is incolved with Alpha Omicron Pi as the New Member Educator and External Operations Officer, Panhellenic as VP of Public Relations, Gamma Sigma Alpha, Order of Omega, Sigma Alpha Pi, Encore 360 as the Marketing Director, Pinnacle, and Cub Camp as a counselor and chair; Lauren also worked in the student activities office for a year and a half and has worked in the bookstore for three years. With this much experience it only made sense for her to cover news on campus for the Fort Smith Four.

Carol Ann Seahorn

 

Carol Ann Seahorn is a senior English major with Rhetoric and Writing minor. Carol Ann has centered her writing to all things LGBT with primary focus on local happenings. Fort Smith has a strong LGBT community with growing public awareness. Carol Ann covers people to note in the community as well as new legal movements and events. She is a member of PRIDE, the gay-straight alliance on campus.

Averie Warren 

 

Averie is a junior Media Communications major at UAFS. She has a background in journalism, as her high school's journalism class editor, current Lions' Chronicle editor, and has previously worked at 5 News. She is involved on campus with Greek Life and in the Communications department
