Gamma Phi Beta’s event is Strong Moon which is a strong man competition and consists of different athletic relay races. It is scheduled for September 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the intramurals field. It cost fifteen dollars per person to be on a team and teams are made up of three people. If this type of competition is not someone’s strong suit, they can just come out to show support for free. Gamma Phi Beta’s national philanthropy is Girls on the Run. This organization was established in 1996 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The whole point of Girls on the Run is to “provide pre-adolescent girls with the necessary tools to embrace their individual strengths and successfully navigate life experiences”. Today, with the help of over 120,000 volunteers, Girls on the Run is serving over 168,000 girls in 225+ cities across North America each year (girlsontherun).
Alpha Omicrion Pi’s event is Strike Out Arthritis which is a kickball tournament. It is scheduled for September 26th at 4 p.m. at the 51st Annex Field. It cost fifteen dollars per person and teams can have anywhere from six to eleven members. It cost just two dollars to get in for people who would rather watch and there will also be free face painting and a silent auction. Alpha Omicron Pi’s national philanthropy is the Arthritis
UAFS sororities host three separate philanthropy events in Fort Smith this month to raise money for three different charities. UAFS is home to three panhellenic sororities, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Gamma, and Gamma Phi Beta. Each panhellenic sorority has a national philanthropy that every chapter all over the world works to raise money for to help find a cure or to help improve the quality of life for the people affected by that charity’s cause
Delta Gamma’s event is Anchor Splash which involves teams competing in relay races in the pool and synchronized swimming dance routines. It is scheduled for September 13th at 3 p.m. at the Fort Smith Athletic Club. It cost fifteen dollars per person to be on a team and teams consist of four people, or it cost just five dollars to come out to support them. Delta Gamma’s national philanthropy is Service for Sight. This organization “supports the four schools founded by Delta Gammas for the visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation
and provide assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired”. Service for sight has been Delta Gamma’s philanthropy since 1936 and came about because one of their members was blind. She petitioned members and the rest is history (Delta Gamma, np.).

Foundation. This organization “helps conquer everyday battles through life-changing information and resources, access to optimal care, advancements in science and community connections”. The Arthritis Foundation works with adult and children alike to improve their quality of life. Arthritis is the number one cause of disabilities and affects people of all ages (arthritisfoundation).
All three of the UAFS sororities are working hard to raise money for three great causes with three different philanthropy events this month in Fort Smith.
